Hey Qeo.
I got a bit farther in Vedra 2. It seems like the battle could use quite a bit of re-balancing. Everything from the encounter rate to the weapon special attacks. For example, a weapon skill costing 150SP deals 1550 dmg. A weapon skill costing twice as much, 300SP deals 1750 dmg. +100% SP Cost for only +200dmg?

The story seems fun and all, but with these minor bosses and enemies kicking my a$$ left and right, I dread fighting "difficult" bosses.

It usually does a lot more damage for me.

The attack power is doubled for every new special skill.

As for the encounter rate... after playing final fantasy 9 it seems reasonable. That game drove me nuts.

Hm. I didn't think FF9 was that bad.
I had to leave the cave at the beach twice to buy 30+ potions. There is no healer at that point, so the endless battles were a real pain.

Anyway, it sounds like maybe you don't want feedback? I will keep my mouth shut if that is the case. Could you clarify if you want feedback or not? I certainly don't mean to upset you if you're not looking for constructive criticism.

I've done some testing. I gave a level 20 Zeo a battleaxe, gave him access to all his special attacks [except the optional one] and had him fight a rockboy.

Normal attack - 648 damage

Special Attack 1 - 1098 damage

Special Attack 2 - 1447 damage - more than the 200+ damage, but I suppose it should be at least 2000 if it costs twice as much.

Special Attack 3 - 2335 damage - almost 1000 more damage. I realize on this I made the ATK-F 120 instead of 100.

If I were to change it and have Special Attack 2 do 2000 I'd need to make Special Attack 3 do 4000, and change some of the bosses HP to make them not too easy.

So I'd need to playtest the whole thing again... And I'm not sure you or gameface would want to get to this point in the game again if I make that new version.

I will say Vedra 3 doesn't have this problem, the special attack upgrades are all very different in power. Though, you might have your own complaints about that as it uses a "limit break" system, meaning you can only do them when your bar is full.

But they are more powerful, and it uses zephren's timed hit script whenever you use it, so you need to push the buttons it shows in the time limit - the more buttons you press correctly the stronger it is.

Makes the game more fun in my opinion.

Cool, I like the limit break idea.
I don't need the mechanics to work any certain way; it's just nice when they work as intended.

I plan to play more Vedra 2 in the coming week.

Oh okay, hopefully you won't find the place after the water cave too annoying - The game gets more fun when Zeo, Kero and Leon reunite, which happens after you've done their solo missions.
