I know piracy isn't 100% avoidable but not every company can afford a usb lock key right, especially an underground company.

But a good script(or system) could change this in rmxp(maybe) if your planning to sell your game.

Post here some basic ideas.

Here's mine:

In game, when you try to start the game for the first time. A randomize number shows up(i.e. 8076-8112 or whatever...) each number will represent a range of letters in a tricky matter.

(I.E.
0 = A..B..D..E..G..
1 = C..F..I..
3 = [1].reverse(i guess)
and so on...)

Depending on the number order, the code's letter will be set depending on its neighbor plus one letter digit.

(I.E. 8840-3245
8's neighbor is 8 so the number would be the 9th letter of the array [because 9 is bigger than 8].

8's[second] neighbor is 4 so it's letter would be the 5th letter in the array.

skipping to the end...

5 is the end number, its neighbor would be 4, the final digit would be different from the others where it would actually be the 4th letter in the array but jumps back 3 letters[in the array] and the letter would actually be the first digit. But if for any reason it goes beyond the first letter, it would skip to the end of the array.)

The shown code will be sent to the creator where he would decipher the code using his special technique.
And reply back the deciphered code after answering a
few security questions.

And for someone thinking to disable the script using some hacks, the script can be important to the software as in it can't run without it.

I'm sure someone can see beyond this and make a patch for it.

So you mean if you're planning on selling your games or just giving it to a select few people, they need a unique code? Hmm...
Seems a bit tricky. You'd have to store stuff on the user's computer to maintain the unlocked version of the game.
That means each digital copy of the game will have to have its own unique code?

I like the idea of that, even it would take a while for a hacker to figure it out. By that time, you would have enough profit for your next game.(if there's a sequal)

I like the idea but you've got to take into account that people are so use to getting everything free or close to free these days; music using spotify, movies using Netflix ... you'd have to offer something truly unique and enticing for them to pay for your game. I personally think the best model nowadays is offering the game for free while asking for donations, that way you're getting a direct response to how good your game is - if people like your game enough they'll fork over a few dollars/pounds to see the sequel or whatever other project you may be working on.

Yea donations is the way to go IMO. trying to create a game that would be so "cool" that people will pay for it is hard. However creating something that people like for free and suggesting donations for sequels is a good idea.

I like this idea but as a person who knows a lot about piracy, there just needs to be a well-able programmer to break the algorithm and then create a keygen for it, like what happens with most PC games that require a CD key.
