Back in the 1980's, Carl Sagan, a popular scientist, hosted a show called 'Cosmos: A personal Voyage'
The show covered everything from the origin of life to the universe as we knew it. Unfortunately we lost Carl to pneumonia in 1996 and the Cosmos was lost in space... but years later
the show has returned thanks to executive producers Seth Macfarlane (yes the family guy) and Ann Druyan (Carl Sagan ex-wife) also the new host/narrator, astrophysicist and once disciple of Carl Sagan, Neil deGrasse Tyson.
The show is filled with 'current' scientific knowledge (Pluto is not a planet!) amazing graphics and some neat anime/animation. I encourage you all to watch this show for it will expand your mind and get you up to speed with time, space, and life as we know it.
Episode 1 - "Standing Up in the Milky Way"
Re-Covers Earth's cosmic address with some amazing graphics.
Compresses time as we know it and breaks it down to a calendar year.
Episode 2 - "Some of the Things That Molecules Do"
Covers artificial selection, natural selection, dna and genetic mutation.
Wizzes through the great holocausts and gives props to the almighty tardigrade.
Ponders the thought of other life on Titan (one of Jupiters moon)
Episode 3 - "When Knowledge Conquered Fear"
Covers pattern recognition, Jan Oort, Edmond Halley, Isaac Newton, Robert Hook, and how the revolutionized science as we know it.

Episode 3
Oort cloud, Halley before the comet, Newton vs Hook, and more revolutionary science (with a few jabs at religion of course) more awesome computer graphics and animation.
