i beilive that halo three created a book to explain such this for the covient and the brutes.... its kinda creative and intresting....

Haha, I think your interpretation of aliens is way off the mark. Hawking is not saying that alien life will be intelligent necessarily, it could be anything from a goo-like substance to animals not too unlike those found on Earth.
What he's not saying is that grey, big headed things are coming and abducting people.
When you take into account the vastness of the universe, I think it's harder to believe that there are no aliens.
I don't believe in God. I believe in science, and scientifically the chance that alien life exists is quite high. Why should Earth be the only planet out of billions upon billions populated with a form of life, it makes no sense.
