Slam Poetry is a competition between poets that read or recite original poetic work. After these poets have finished, they are then judged buy the audience or a selective group of members.Marc Smith, the said creator of slam poetry at"Get Me High Lounge" in Chicago on November 1984. On July 1986,it transitioned to the "Green Mill Jazz Club". In 1990, the first National Poetry Slam took place in Fort Mason, San Francisco, with a team from Chicago, San Francisco, and a poet from New York. In 2010, the National Poetry Slam had increased has obtained approximately 80 certified teams each year, approximating in five days worth of competition.In a poetry slam,a random selection of members of the audience are chosen by the M.C. or host where ever they may be to act as judges for the event. In a standard slam, there are five judges. After each poet performs, each judge decides a score to that poetry. Scores generally range between zero and ten. Then the highest and lowest scores are dropped,summing up each performance a rating between zero and thirty points.A single round consists of performances by poets that meet the standards. Most slams vary in rounds, and consist of the elimination of the lesser scoring poets in rounds. A normal elimination would be 8 poets then 4 then 2. In some rounds poets aren't eliminated at all. There are no props, costumes, or music of any kind in slam poetry. If so this is called performance poetry by Hedwig Gorski.Every poet is different and has a unique style and an awesome way to get his or her audience going.

GEMINI-Pandas

You see that furry thing there, thats a panda not because its black and white or white and black.No, no sir thats because its its own being and own self spirit, that has put on this Earth.Everyday its strives to reach its goals, it strives to go forth and show the rest of those so called animals whose boss, and when is goes to its 2 baby cubs at night as a tired father who comes home from work who keeps on going because he has two joys in the world to make successful, these fathers are not at all different no,and this panda has a loving wife not by marriage but by bond.He forever thanks her for his two prid and joys, and to love her is to love his kids who love their mom and dad, and when you see this old papa bear whos done good you can pat him on the back as a family congratulates their son or daughter for making it through Collage. This panda might have some flaws and mistakes but it only makes the animals side of him have human characteristics as we all do,some days things happens a tragedies occur, and as the poachers drag the net thats carries his sleeping cubs and raging wife on to their truck all he can do is do the right thing and out smart the so called animals that have taken his family. Before the poachers take of the pandas stares in blank silence and the three letter word is tattooed in his eyes "zoo",he again keeps on striving for he has something to live for, AND WHEN HE STEPS UP TO THOSE ZOO GATES AND BASHES AND BREAKS IT OPEN IN TRIUMPH AND FREES HIS COMPANIONS AND HIS FAMILY... HE KNOWS...HE KNOWS...he's BEAT THESE "ANIMALS"."We all have a roar in us...sometimes we just need a reason to roar this roar" panda
