They both wanted to split the money and they made an "even" first game of a Best of 5 and they did an ARAM on Summoners Rift. Many got mad at them doing it and now MLG has posted this and people are starting to hate MLG more.

I've never really gotten into the LoL pro scene so I'm just judging off the Sc2 scene with not really a similar incident but something that also concerns professionalism.
A while back (actually I'm not really sure when it happened), Quantic's Naniwa probe rushed at the Blizzard Cup cos the match he was playing wouldn't count to his placing in the tournament. This messed up not only his chance to get to the GSL (they dropped plans to seed him into Code S) but also MLG/GSL relations. A whole bunch of random really significant things happened before Naniwa had to release a public apology.
Things used to be worse though. In the old OGN, people were disqualified if they typed gg or ppp wrong.
So...I guess just saying that what the teams involved here in the LoL thing got wasn't unexpected.

Hah. I read on the Reddit threads that an old Starcraft player got banned for life from Starcraft tournies because he was found betting on matches and things.

They weren't actually DQd because of the ARAM, just that they were found conspiring with the colluding in public (MLG says fans heard them during their lunch break).

Wouldn't probe rushing be found as just a strategy for an unexpected win? Tournaments should stop thinking that 100% of the plays will be followed with the Metagame. Playing an ARAM was still feasible since it was still on Summoners Rift and no actual rules were broken. They just stayed mid and played by ARAM rules.

Also, MLG stopped playing Super Smash Brothers: Brawl because the top 2 players were found Colluding together and many others for actual betting and they got banned for life from MLG.

Yeah, since SC2 is such a huge thing, you get some teams and players that do betting/fixing and such. Some of them do get banned, some of them ban themselves (self held ban) and then get shouted out by the public and press if they break it.
Probe rush isn't illegal, just that whoever does it would probably have questionable professionalism, which separates SC2 from other progaming scenes. It's worse than 6 pool or proxy 2 rax cos all you need to do is A+click. In anything above bronze league it's destined to fail anyway so it's seen as "throwing away the game". Nothing to do with the metagame. If some player did a crazy build that everyone thought would fail (without resorting to practise league tactics), they'd get a whole load of rep from the community and they'd probably become famous overnight. Something else is that SC2 is still largely Korean based. This brings in Asian thinking in. the West is more performance for the prize (generally) while in Asia it's seen as more worthwhile giving your fans what they came for and proving you're worth their *verb for being a fan*.
I guess like suckerpunching someone before a fight. It's not illegal, it's just low. Everyone will hate you for it.

I don't really think anything is wrong with them playing ARAM in a tournament. It'd give a nice shake up. It'd only happen if winnings were split, but this give an unfair advantage to them from the points and stuff.

Yeah, what I'm understanding with Pro-gaming is that if you dont choose something from the Metagame and if it works, you get praised for it. But if it fails, then people hate on you so much more.

It might be easier to describe about League (at least for me). Say you go like AD Leblanc at a Tournament and you do pretty well with about a 4/3/7 score. Then this would start being used outside of Pro play and at around 1400 Elo. This alone could change the meta just by a bit. But if the player went like 0/6/3, the entire community would be in shock and say the player is bad.

I believe around the end of last Season, someone went AD Kennen and now people still think that its viable just because he did good with it once.
