- background story:
- PRYME (named after the autobot leader) is the pc workstation / dj set up in the living room at home.
It's my connection to all of the old stuff such as tape cassettes, records, vhs, etc...
and is capable of converting a lot of obsolete media into digital media.
It wasn't planned to be created, actually my brother (swoop) sparked the project with our Dad (daventor) He wanted to make a dj table for the place he was staying at. He simply sketch up the design and with Dad's skills with tools, he welded it out of metal!
Then bro was moving to another place and wanted to let go of the table... I didn't hesitate to be the proud new owner of what my bro and pops put together. I then slowly but surely started customizing it to function as a dj table AND a pc workstation. I mounted a flat screen monitor and sliding keyboard drawer. Put together a pc from all of the spare parts, installed a multi-card reader (to transfer data) installed the creative live drive (to record multiple audio line ins) formatted it FAT with windows XP (for dos and other old data) along with some funky lights, 4.1 creative labs speakers, two turntables, a microphone, and other bells and whistles... PRYME came to life.
PRYME was like a tinker tantrum made of leftover PC parts, old data being copied from diskettes, completely off the grid until completely backed up, guarding years of precious data, memories, inspiration!
It's not the fastest pc, in fact it's super slow compared to the systems of today, still PRYME can handle Starcraft 1 no problem.
^edit: 4/25/2013
New spare parts?
PRYME now runs decent, amazingly Resident Evil 4 run incredibly smooth. I have yet install the music recording software, which I know will be improved +
In time I will share detailed specs and photos of this station along with some of the media made with it.
I would like to tidy things up a bit before I start uploading photos. Still I'm very proud of was it has become ~ heck it's the first thing guests see when they come over to visit. ^,^

Of course this thing is also loaded with so many classic games that I like to revisit or let people play who never had the chance.
(games like 7th Guest, Sam and Max, Full Throttle, Novastorm, ahh so many games)
Every now and then I like to play some good old StarCraft Broodwar and use PRYME as the LAN server.
(having the ability to host your own lan network game in SC1 still makes it the best)
it's also used as a handy print/media server , helps keep things organized through DVD backups.

will add more pictures, spec info, and more...
@swoop - any more I can add to the background story? please share

not 2 but 3 usb 2.0! +++
midi, spdif, rca, micro sd, mmc, etc...
heck! just look at all the inputs and outputs!
and the fact that prime is in the living room makes it easy for the family and guests to transfer data.
