well there's still those apps that people will pay to support, and then there's apps that apple won't support but they are absolutely free!
a few apps that I would recommend
SB settings (sweet hidden sliding menu)
Winterboard (control your theme settings)
iFile (basically your "iPhone explorer")
Openstream (the VLC player for the iPhone)
still learning this whole new world of killer apps
