I recently acquired DotA 2 from a guy for $20 and he also gave me an invite too!
The invites for DotA run for $40 currently.
You need Steam to run it and it's kinda clunky on low-spec computers. It has worse graphics on Low than LoL on Low.
It's very difficult as well. Very high skill level is required. It's also pretty hard because there is no Tutorial (yet) and even the Bot's are pretty difficult.
