Many of you guys have played my latest (and first released) RPG Maker game called “The Lost Story”. I recently discovered RPG Maker VX Ace, which seems superb in its updated features, like including a world map feature, a character generator, and better-looking tile-sets.
I am going to reboot the series with VX Ace. Not only just rebooting, but expanding. The Lost Story will expand with a wider and deeper story that stretches across three different continents that are in a major battle within themselves. One continent is like a high-fantasy setting with castles, open land, monsters of various sizes and shapes. Another continent is shaped in a Steampunk era that is lost within its technological limits and suffers from a tyrannical government control. On the third continent, nothing is really known from those who have traveled there. It’s sandy. It’s actually entirely full of sand and rocks. The only structure that exists is a high-tower that is full of blank history, like framed pictures of disgusting creatures that nobody has ever seen and books that are in a language that nobody knows how to read.
Quick Paint Map of the world:
How it looks right now in RPG Maker (Nowhere near finished):
The story:
How I want to depict the story is that it will span across 6 games. The first 5 games will be of the 5 characters, who suffer both tragedies and bliss in their travels that will all meet up in the 6th game to close the series out. To better put how I plan it to be, think of 6 different discs that will tell the story of 5 different people in one huge world, in three different continents and will end with the 6th disc, like Final Fantasy. I have no idea how long the entirety of this will take, or if I will even finish at all. I don’t have any plans of how long each character’s story will be either. It might be like a 2-3 hour journey each game, maybe more. I’m not sure how I will focus some combat, whether to use an ABS or keep it turn-based. Some of the music will be of stuff I found on Bandcamp, which is a site that lets bands or artists release their work to a huge audience of people who visit the site, for free or for some small fee. I have like 3 albums right now that sound good for a RPG game.
Tell me what you guys think about this.

The story:
- Spoiler:
- In the world of Yzon (Why-zon) there lies three continents that make up 30% of the land that is the world. Each continent holds a different time barrier. One is stuck in a fantasy land, another is stuck in a futuristic setting, and the last is unknown as nothing has been found there except that it has always consisted of sand, even when the world was born. As every 100 years that pass in Yzon, the world erupts. Chunks of lava explode from the ground in certain areas. Not one continent knows why. Maybe the unknown may have some knowledge?
When the world was born, monsters were born with it. Monsters rose above the heated planet and fought one another for the right to be the ruler of the entire world. The land was corrupt with lava at the time. Water from the sky would soon wash away the lava, creating the entire ocean. Some say that this is what finally formed the three continents. As the rain came, it weakened the monsters that existed at the time. Frozen into stone, the monsters are now trophies to the highest realms that help tell of the history of the planet of Yzon.
500 years later, Kings and Queens, Leaders and Rulers, and even the Peasants and Poor rose above the challenge to fight, much like the monsters did before them.
Now four realms are spread across three continents, war-torn of scars, deceit, lust, and power.
The Realm of the 12 Councils wage war against the Northern Realm of Hrrengir (Herr-in-jeer). The fantasy land that is mostly plains and forests, the Realm of the 12 councils lie to the South of the first continent. 12 different Kings or Queens battle against one man and his army to the North. It takes 12 different nations to destroy one single man. It is all because he holds the power to controlling the monsters that arise every 100 years. A forsaken castle that can barely be seen in the snow, sits above the cesspool of evil that the world breeds.
The Realm of Gear-Grave is at war against its people in a rebellion like none other. Tired of working in factories and being told how to live and die, while the Government itself basks in the glory of riches and greed. Most of the people that reside in Gear-Grave take up arms against a single government in a futuristic-like setting that is full of robots and mechs.
The last Realm, the Realm of Ozlak Razor-Claw. It is buried beneath the sand of the third continent that lies what could be the ancestors of the first civilization of Yzon. The only real documentation of what they look like is found in the high-tower in the Northern part of the continent. In the high-tower lie pictures of short-sized people, with narrow faces and long beards. They are known as Dwarves to their kind. They have their own language that no other continent has ever seen before.

Thanks guys. I've been working at least once a day, mostly doing mapping right now. Collecting some resources might be a problem, as I said above, the music isn't hard to come by since I can find some stuff on Bandcamp. VX character sets I find suitable for use in the different continents could be a problem.

^ use temporary resources in the meantime, lay the game all out story and event wise while selecting the right music for it, then touch up the graphics while balancing and polishing up gold, battle, etc...
this would probably be better than what I always do,
make it on the go...
