1993, low-tech computers were pushed to play next level games. It was the dawn of genres post arcade and the wave of pc games took place.
Out of all the games that surfaced one stood out among the rest, a shooter that wasn't truly 3D yet had a first person point of view and really brought the role as a space marine to life, that game was known as DOOM. Doom was notorious for it's graphic violence and satanic imagery which had adults flocking to play and parents denying kids whining to play it. The metal midi was the best sound track of it's time, and the story was deep but not significant as it was kill or be killed as you progress. This game was one of the original survival horror games as you were limited in ammo and out numbered by the hordes of hell. Finding secret rooms for bonus armor, health, and weapons made advancing through the game a bit easier. The different enemies kept the game ever changing and not redundant. The game play was smooth making the action intense! Doom was ahead of it's time and still enjoyable to this day.

Pros: fast, easy to play, scary, great music and graphics of it's time, multiplayer, mods and add ons, replay value to unlock all secrets.

Cons: not for everyone due to satanic graphics
